Welcome to Our Lab
The Hiroshima University Transportation Engineering Laboratory (HiTEL) is affiliated with the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering and the Graduate School of Innovation and Practice for Smart Society at Hiroshima University.
At HiTEL, our research covers a wide range of topics on transportation and urban planning. Our recent interests include emerging mobility services like autonomous and connected vehicles, shared vehicle systems, and next-generation transportation terminals. We also work on projects related to sustainable transportation, Mobility-Oriented Development, KANSEI measurement of travelers, etc.
Our work involves various methods for individual and group travel behavior, including advanced discrete choice modeling, multi-agent interaction modeling, econometric analysis, network optimization, travel demand modeling and forecasting, and socio psychological and KANSEI analyses. These methods enable us to provide in-depth quantitative analyses that are essential for informed decision-making and practical policy discussions.
We are committed to applying the insights grained from our studies to make contributions in addressing a variety of challenges in urban and rural contexts, primarily focus on Japan and the Global South. Join us as we explore and shape the future of transportation and urban development.
